The Nova Scotia Scholastic Chess Association (NSSCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting youth chess in Nova Scotia. NSSCA is starting a new youth volunteer program in 2018-19. Youth who come to our tournaments will have the opportunity to help with set-up and registration at the events. Volunteer hours will be tracked, and youth will be recognized for their contributions at the end of the year. References can be provided, if needed.
NSSCA is currently seeking volunteers to help with organizing and running chess tournaments.
Tournaments are usually held on Sundays from 12:00 to 4:30 pm at locations around HRM.
Adults, Seniors, and high school students above the age of 16 are encouraged apply. Expertise in the game of chess in not necessary.
Volunteer roles include, but are not limited to:
1. Registration – Filling forms, name tags, handling cash.
2. Set up & clean up – Posting signage & result sheets, setting up & clean up after tournaments.
3. Tournament assistance- Scoring & assisting Tournament Director.
