In Memory of Don Bidgood

It is with deep sadness that we must inform you of the passing of Don Bidgood, a pillar of support that has held the Nova Scotia Chess Community high for over 25 years.

As many players and parents will know, Don was the mastermind organizing the Dartmouth Junior Chess Club and the March Break Chess Tournament held at the Alderney Gate Library in Dartmouth. Don and his influence has had a profound impact on many youth chess players over the years and it’s hard to find a player that would not have felt his influence in one way or another.

As a mentor and dear friend to many of us, he will be greatly missed.
