We’re coming back to over the board! Get ready! We’re kicking off the season on December 12 at the Halifax Central Library.
The event is free and open to all players in grades primary to twelve. See the attached poster for more details.
The NSSCA team believes over the board chess is a fun and important way to enjoy chess and has been working hard to bring everyone back over the board in the safest way possible. We will be following the Nova Scotia COVID-19 Restrictions and Guidance (https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/restrictions-and-guidance) at our events as well as any guidelines and restrictions that our venues will enforce. This means the following:
- All players, guardians, volunteers and spectators over the age of 12 must show proof of vaccination to participate
- All players, guardians, volunteers and spectators will be required to wear masks at all times
- The number of people in the room will be limited based on public health guidelines
- Hand sanitizer will be available for players before they play their games
To prevent the spread of illnesses, players, guardians, volunteers and spectators are asked to avoid the events if they are feeling ill or have any symptoms such as cough, fever, headache, runny nose, nasal congestion, sore throat, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
Due to limits on the number of people in our playing halls, we are asking everyone to try and limit the number of parents, guardians and spectators if possible.
Note that we will be handing out any outstanding medals, plaques and trophies during this event. No worries if you cannot attend, we will still keep the awards for you.
Registration is required in advance on the website. You can register here.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone!
All participants will need to have a signed registration form. This will be available at the location, but we encourage you to print the form, complete and bring with you to the tournament.
